How laser hair removal works
In hair treatment, the energy of the powerful diode laser is used to prevent hair regrowth. To do this, the light must penetrate several millimetres into the skin to reach the hair root. When it meets the melanin in the hair (brown colour), the light is absorbed, i.e. it is converted into heat. The darker, thicker and denser the hair, the more heat is produced. This heat damages the cells responsible for hair growth in the hair and in the immediate vicinity of the hair.
This drastically reduces hair in the treated area. At the same time, it must be ensured that no blisters or scarring occurs despite the heat produced. This is why all Asclepion hair removal technologies contain a powerful skin cooling element, which always cools the most superficial layer of the skin immediately before the light pulse. It also makes the treatment more comfortable for the patient.
Laser hair removal never reaches all your hairs at once. It only works on hairs in the growth phase, and this is 30% on average. To reach all hairs, you need an average of 7 to 10 treatments.
How much time is there between treatments?
This depends on the area: the faster the hair grows there, the less time there needs to be between treatments. The waiting time varies from 6 to 12 weeks. In the intake interview, we discuss the expected number of treatments and how much time there should be between them.
After treatment, do not massage the treated area for up to 24 hours, do not exercise, do not sit in the sun or sauna, do not wash the treated area or shower with hot water, do not sleep on the face (if the face is injected) and do not apply make-up.
You can often see results after the first treatment. You can see the result in bald spots that appear in the treated area and reduced hair growth. Some of the hair may feel softer or thinner. After 3-4 treatments, results are really visible.

The treatment is usually well tolerated, even if large areas are treated at once. The laser pulse may cause a sensation similar to a very light prick or like a rubber band being shot against your skin.
Through energy, the hair follicle is destroyed. This prevents new hair from developing. Because hairs are in three different growth phases, you cannot permanently destroy all hair follicles in one treatment.
The hair should be as short as possible to properly conduct the laser pulse towards the hair root so that it receives sufficient energy and therefore gets heated. If the hair is long, The energy is not sufficiently transmitted to the hair follicles.
After treatment, the skin is warm, red and swollen. In some laser treatments, this redness lasts for a few hours, in others for several days or even two weeks. The skin may also peel or develop scabs. Immediately after the treatment, use a cooling pack or Aloe vera lotion to remove the
cool skin.
It is important to plan a laser hair removal properly. This is because your hair must be in a growth phase, as only then will there be pigmentation in the hair. Ideally, you leave 4-6 weeks between treatments, such that your hair is in a growth phase each time.
